Hello thar!

Some know me, some don’t! Anywho I am a vegan* cyclist soon to be heading up to CT by bike from the D.C.. Just me, my Surly Disc Trucker (rim brakes are for suckaz) and whatever gear I bring with me.

I planning on leaving in September and just taking my time and having a good time, exploring the country (or at least the parts I will be biking through) meeting cool people, promoting veganism* and cycling and seeing family I haven’t seen in a long time.

Right now I am getting myself mentally and a bit more physically prepared for the this journey. I have never done anything like this, the most I have gone by bike is 118 miles and it was all on the C & O and it was with friends. This is a solo journey and it is both very exciting and scary as fuck but I will try and keep people updated with everything going on and great recipes and tips and such.

I have no paid sponsors but I do have some really great people help me out.

I want to first thank the Dennis for building and tuning up my bike (when I need it) without you this all couldn’t happen.

Secondly I want to thank Arkel for helping get some GT-54 panniers  which are some of the best panniers on the market for touring. http://Arkel-od.com

Gotta thank Keen One Quinoa, my first and only par-cooked quinoa supplier and obviously they should be your first and only quinoa supplier…Flavor Country is one of their flavors, which is awesome. I have seen cool names for products but Flavor Country tops the damn list and it looks quite tasty. http://www.keenonefoods.com/

I also would like to thank family and friends for inspiring me, helping me learn and grow and for “…being a friend down the road and back again…”

Also have other people to thank but I will get to them in the near future.

*The word ‘veganism’ denotes a philosophy and way of living which seeks to end the idea of animals as property and exclude all forms of exploitation of (use of), and cruelty to, animals for food (including products derived wholly or partly from animals), clothing, research or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives and respect for their inherent rights as our fellow earthlings.

PS: the background currently is a picture of what my bike looked like from the box however I have added cross levers a Surly rear rack, PDW’s bird cages (water bottle cages) a bell, a new seat (non-leather of course), better tape, fenders (Planet Bike Cascadias) and the Topeak Road Morph pump (features of a floor pump that you can take with you). I am soon to be getting some Shimano A-350 SPD dual platform pedals and hopefully a pair of Scott Team MTB BOA shoes but money isn’t all there so maybe next tour?
